Requirements

We are looking for a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) that is excited about the below Mission and Outcome.

Mission: We’re seeking a strategic and execution-focused Chief Technology Officer to lead the next stage of Sleek’s product and platform evolution. This role blends high-level vision with hands-on leadership, driving innovation across accounting automation, compliance, KYC, and fintech integration. You’ll work closely with product, operations, and regulatory teams to deliver scalable, secure, and user-friendly solutions for SMEs across our four markets.

With a mandate to build a high-caliber team of AI-first engineers, the CTO will prioritize hiring exceptional talent who deeply understand the problems they’re solving and take pride in crafting elegant, scalable solutions. You will cultivate a culture of clarity, ownership, and technical excellence, where engineers are not just coding features, but actively shaping how technology delivers value. In parallel, you’ll lead our efforts to embed AI meaningfully into our product and operational stack, not as an overlay, but as a foundational layer that reduces manual effort, improves decision-making, and enables new client experiences. Working closely with the Head of Engineering, who drives day-to-day execution, you will focus on setting the technical vision, architecting for the future, and aligning engineering strategy with the business mission.

Outcomes:

Technology Strategy & Execution

  • Define and execute the long-term tech vision aligned with Sleek’s goal to become the best AI-powered accounting and corpsec platform.
  • Own architecture decisions, platform modernization, and technology risk management.
  • Balance innovation with pragmatic execution and stability.
  • Build and retain an A-player technology leadership team that sets high standards, moves with urgency, and scales with the business.

Cross-Border Platform Leadership

  • Set the strategic direction for platform capabilities across SG, HK, AU, and UK, with an emphasis on jurisdiction-specific compliance, regulatory integration, and market nuances.
  • Drive consistency and reusability across systems supporting accounting, corpsec, compliance, and business accounts.
  • Ensure localization, modularity, and scalability are designed into platform infrastructure from the outset.

Engineering & Technical Leadership

  • Partner with the Head of Engineering to ensure delivery excellence, code quality, and engineering best practices across all teams.
  • Provide architectural and technical direction across product verticals
  • Guide long-term build vs buy decisions, major technical investments, and cross-functional technical alignment.
  • Own technology procurement and SaaS subscription costs, ensuring tools are cost-effective and aligned to company priorities.
  • Act as a mentor and thought partner to senior technical leaders, raising the bar for system design and technical rigor.

AI, Automation & Client Self-Service

  • Elevate AI adoption across engineering by embedding it into workflows, tooling, and decision-making, to boost productivity, code quality, and innovation.
  • Drive automation-first strategies across both client-facing and internal workflows, reducing friction and dependency on manual intervention.
  • Champion AI initiatives in document extraction, categorization, reconciliation, and anomaly detection.
  • Ensure all tools are designed with auditability, transparency, and usability in mind, for both clients and staff.
  • Raise internal tooling satisfaction to >50 eNPS and support frontline teams in achieving >97 CSAT through reliable, intelligent systems.

Compliance, Security & Scalability

  • Ensure all systems meet high standards for compliance (e.g., PCI-DSS, KYC/AML regulations) and security across markets.
  • Support integrations with regulatory authorities (ACRA, eRegistry, ASIC/ATO, Companies House).
  • Maintain high availability and reliability for internal and external users (500 internal, 500K+ external).

Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as a key member of the executive team, partnering closely with the CEO and other members of leadership.
  • Translate business strategy into scalable technical solutions.
  • Communicate technical trade-offs and long-term investment decisions to board members, investors, and external partners.

Who you are

You are a deeply experienced technology leader with a track record of building scalable platforms, building & leading high-performing teams, and delivering impactful products in fast-paced environments. You combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution, and you’re as comfortable reviewing architectural decisions as you are shaping long-term technology vision.

  • Talent Magnet: You don’t settle for mediocrity, you build teams that others want to join. You know how to spot, attract, and empower exceptional engineers, and create an environment that they can thrive in. You recognise that high-performers need the ability to understand complex business problems, be curious in nature, and demand clarity.
  • Builder at Heart: You’ve led complex platform builds from the ground up or taken legacy systems through modernization at scale. You have an instinct for balancing speed with stability and know when to build versus buy.
  • Cross-Functional Thinker: You understand how technology intersects with operations, compliance, finance, and customer experience. You work seamlessly with peers in product, operations, legal, and commercial teams to align outcomes.
  • Operationally Disciplined: You believe that engineering productivity and operational clarity are just as important as innovation. You set up systems for visibility, tracking, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Customer & Compliance Minded: You design systems not just for elegance, but for real-world requirements, like helping SMEs stay compliant, automate mundane tasks, and access financial tools with confidence.
  • Fintech / SaaS Fluent: You bring domain experience in fintech, SaaS, or regulated industries. You’ve worked in or alongside organizations that require auditability, KYC/AML compliance, or complex jurisdictional workflows.
  • Financial Steward: You care about impact-per-dollar. You’re thoughtful about software procurement, cloud spend, and tooling, and make decisions that are both technically sound and commercially responsible.
  • Global in Mindset: You understand the challenges of building platforms that span countries, legal systems, and regulatory regimes. You’ve worked with distributed teams and know how to manage complexity without sacrificing clarity.
  • Intentional Communicator: You can zoom in and out of technical detail with clarity, whether speaking to a junior engineer, a regulatory body, or a boardroom. You’re transparent, structured, and outcomes-driven.

Above all, you’re someone who believes in the power of technology to create leverage, for clients, for teams, and for the business.

To do this, you will have:

  • 15+ years in software engineering and/or enterprise architecture
  • Proven ability to scale complex, multi-product platforms, ideally in fintech, SaaS, or regulated industries.
  • Experience managing cross-border engineering teams and delivering across jurisdictions.
  • Ownership of technology procurement, vendor management, and subscription cost control.
  • Familiarity with regulatory domains such as KYC/AML, accounting, and statutory compliance is strongly preferred.
  • Strong grasp of modern software architecture including microservices, cloud infrastructure, APIs, and event-driven systems.
  • Experience with technologies such as Node.js, TypeScript, React, PostgreSQL, Supabase, Kafka, and ML/OCR pipelines.
  • Deep understanding of system reliability, security, auditability, and maintainability at scale.
  • Skilled at building and leading high-performing engineering teams.
  • Clear communicator with the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Track record of aligning technical strategy with business objectives and delivering results.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Additional training or certifications in cloud, security, or data systems are a plus.

This position will be located in Singapore, Hong Kong or Australia.

Behavioural fit is also important at Sleek, and we will be looking for candidates that have a proven track record of embodying the below attributes in their recent roles:

Ownership: This shows reliability and helps build trust within the team. We move fast and need to know that everyone will see things through to completion and proactively help to get things back on track when challenges arise. Accountability is really important to us.

Humility: There is so much we don’t know. Humility allows for open-mindedness to feedback and a willingness to learn from others. It paves the way for collaboration and creates a positive work environment. It is a key ingredient of self awareness and emotional intelligence.

Structured Thinking: Our business is complex with many layers (many services, many countries, many cultures). Regardless of whether you’re more analytical or creative in nature, being able to show sound judgement is important to us. It ensures solutions are pragmatic and balance the needs of the organisation, team and customers.

Data driven: We are a data rich business with ~15,000 small customers. Each decision we make can impact many more people than we realise – so it’s critical that we use sound data to support our strategies and review the success of our initiatives.

Can have tough conversations in a positive way: It’s not a matter of if, but when difficult interpersonal situations arise. Disagreement, conflict and disappointment are a given in a fast moving business where people care about their work. People that proactively have tough conversations with kindness build empathy, trust and great working relationships.
