Position Summary: We’re seeking a strategic, people-oriented Benefits Manager to join our Human Resources team. In collaboration with the Director of Total Rewards and benefits team members, this role will lead the design, implementation, and administration of our employee benefit plans which include health and wellness benefits, retirement benefit plans, and leave of absence programs. The ideal candidate has experience managing vendor relationships and brings a passion for improving the employee experience along with a deep knowledge of benefit plan compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the development, administration, and implementation of all employee benefit programs, including health, dental, vision, life and voluntary insurance, and wellness initiatives.
- Lead strategy and execution for retirement plans, managing vendor partnerships, completion of plan audits, and employee education.
- Oversee leave of absence programs including FMLA, ADA, parental, personal, and medical leave; ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations.
- Lead and inspire a high-performing team of benefit specialists and analysts, leveraging strong people management skills to drive professional growth, foster collaboration, and ensure excellence through coaching, performance development, and cross-functional training initiatives.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employee benefit escalations, and complex case management.
- Coordinate and lead annual benefits open enrollment and retirement readiness campaigns.
- Proven experience in vendor management, including negotiating and optimizing benefit provider partnerships, resolving performance issues, and managing escalated issues as needed.
- Analyze utilization data, industry trends, and employee feedback to recommend improvements or cost-saving opportunities.
- Partner with benefits, payroll, and HRIS teams to ensure accurate records and benefit deductions.
- Lead and participate in projects related to health and welfare benefits, wellness engagement, and recognition to improve employee satisfaction and retention.
- Collaborate with legal and compliance to ensure all benefit offerings align with applicable laws, including ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, and COBRA.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Human Resources, Business, or a related field
- Demonstrated experience managing the benefits life cycle for both health and welfare benefits, and employee leave processes
- Demonstrated experience and success in leading people and teams
- In-depth knowledge of U.S. benefits regulations and best practices
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to confidentiality
- Demonstrated experience and success in delivering compelling presentations and strategic insights to senior leadership and executive stakeholders, translating complex data into clear, actionable recommendations that influence high-impact benefits decisions
- Analytical mindset with proficiency in HR systems (Workday preferred) and data analysis tools
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- HR certification (CEBS, SPHR, SHRM-CP) preferred but not required
