The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for architectural sheet metal projects. This role involves analysing project documents, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, negotiating subcontractor proposals, and supporting project teams with financial tracking throughout the project lifecycle.
- Analyse architectural drawings, specifications, and blueprints to determine project scope and requirements.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates covering materials, labour, equipment, and overheads.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and subcontractors to ensure accurate and competitive bids.
- Utilise industry-standard estimating software to streamline workflows and improve accuracy.
- Evaluate and negotiate subcontractor proposals to secure optimal pricing and value.
- Support project teams with cost monitoring, budget tracking, and financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
- Maintain current knowledge of materials, market conditions, and industry innovations to inform estimates.
- Ensure all estimates and proposals are prepared in accordance with company standards and deadlines.
- Perform other role-specific duties as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as an Estimator in construction, with a focus on architectural sheet metal projects.
- Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes, including cutting, folding, welding, finishing, and installation techniques.
- Proven ability to read, interpret, and take-off from complex architectural and structural drawings.
- Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel essential).
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent negotiation skills and commercial awareness.
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously in a high-pressure environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
