Smartsheet is looking for a Manager, Solutions Engineering to manage, lead, and develop a team of skilled Solution Engineers who play a key role in the technical sales process. In this role, you will partner directly with Sales and Solutions Engineering leadership to deliver on strategies for revenue growth and quota attainment. You will be a leader within the Solutions Engineering organisation that is on a mission to grow revenue and to empower anyone to drive meaningful change — for themselves, their businesses, and the world.

This high profile role reports to the Director, EMEA Solutions Engineering and is based at Smartsheet corporate office in London, UK. (Hybrid eligible)

You Will: 

  • Hire, manage and develop a diverse team of Solutions Engineers who lead technical sales engagements, collaborate closely with sales, identify requirements, summarize challenges, and present solution demonstrations
  • Partner with Sales Leadership to set and deliver on strategies for revenue growth and quota attainment
  • Collaborate with sales, product, customer success, and professional services teams to provide the best customer experience (evaluation, purchase, delivery, and deployment of Smartsheet)
  • Align and prioritise your team’s workloads and development opportunities, providing regular skill coaching and feedback
  • Ensure the sustained high performance of your team by eliminating hurdles, fostering a secure work environment, and inspiring and mentoring team members to foster their personal growth
  • Sponsor and participate in organisation wide projects and programs to drive efficiency, capability, and collaboration
  • Provide technical leadership and product expertise to the team and the larger sales organisation
  • Willingness to travel periodically based on customer and business need
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 You Have:

  • 3+ years of experience as a Manager for a Solutions or Sales Engineering team, Solution Architect team, or related field in the SaaS and enterprise software industry
  • 8+ years of pre-sales experience in SaaS or enterprise software
  • Strong leadership skills, with a proven ability to motivate, coach and develop a team of Solutions Engineers
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally 
  • Critical thinking skills, a growth mindset, and experience analysing, evaluating, and synthesising complex problems
  • Strong technical skills and comfort working in ambiguous and high-pressure situations
  • Experience selling a multipurpose product applicable to multiple lines of business or industries
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies and products
  • Relentless curiosity and a commitment to excellence
  • Legally eligible to work in the UK on an ongoing basis
