Join us and give new meaning to the word, “job.”Summary: The individual serving in this position oversees a powerful network of skilled volunteer advocates throughout a multi-state territory committed and prepared to move LLS’s public policy priorities forward in an effort to reduce barriers to care for blood cancer patients. The Regional Senior Manager is responsible for developing and leading strategic organizing campaigns that ensure advocates are at the center of the solutions. To conduct this work, the Regional Senior Manager partners closely with other OPP colleagues, primarily their supervisor, the Senior Director of Advocacy, and the Government Affairs partner in their region.Duties and Responsibilities: • Develop and manage LLS’s regional advocacy infrastructure – oversee recruitment, training/development, recognition, mobilization and retention of volunteer advocates • Work in partnership with the region’s government affairs partner to develop and implement strategic plans that will be critical to successful policy campaigns. Co-manage a budget for regional campaign expenses • Contribute to the advancement of LLS’s policy agenda in the region, by engaging volunteer advocates in strategic organizing campaigns (on- and off-line) that build power • Oversee all aspects of the patient story development process in the region and manage a database of advocates willing to share their stories with policymakers and other key audiences • Build strong partnerships with contacts in advocacy and alliance roles at patient organizations, professional healthcare associations, and other allies, as appropriate throughout the region to identify potential partners and areas for collaborations • Lead and participate in coalitions whose goals are in alignment with OPP’s policy priorities • Partner with LLS patient community outreach staff to ensure that local health care professionals and relevant community-based organizations are presented opportunities to engage in advocacy • Cultivate strong relationships with LLS region, campaign, and advancement staff to build reciprocity, ensure efficiency of lead-sharing and drive staff/volunteer engagement on advocacy efforts, with a particular focus on working in partnership with region executive directors to engage local volunteer Board of Trustees meaningful in advocacy efforts • Maintain a strong understanding of core LLS offerings, revenue-generating campaigns, disease incidence and research accomplishments to help promote the organization and its initiatives as needed • Perform other related duties as assigned#LI-Remote Education & Experience Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a field related to patient advocacy or healthcare policy. • Minimum of three years of related work experience • Advanced degree in a relevant field with a minimum of two years or extensive volunteer experience may supplant years of work experience • Background in community organizing and/or electoral campaigns, with experience designing and executing both in-person and digital advocacy strategies strongly preferred • Experience working on digital advocacy platforms strongly preferred • Experience managing volunteers • Strong knowledge of state and federal legislative processes • Experience working across multiple functions within an organization to achieve goals with enterprise-level impactPosition Requirements: • Good foundational understanding of grassroots organizing principles and healthcare policy issues • Proven ability to lead strategic organizing campaigns, i.e. conceptualize and articulate policy goals and advocacy tactics • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with a variety of audiences • Ability to work independently in a home office, thrive under pressure, and simultaneously advance multiple high-level tasks • Ability to travel within a multi-state territory and work flexible hours Physical Demands & Work Environment: • Approximately 35% travel, with significant time spent in key state capitols and at least semi-annual visits to the LLS Office of Public Policy in Washington, D.C. The offered compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, business need, market conditions, proficiencies, skills, education, and experience. Additionally, at LLS we place a high value on internal pay equity and will consider the current compensation of similarly situated roles and direct team members.
