Rust Engineer (Contract/Hourly)

We’re looking for a highly motivated and skilled Rust Engineer for a contract-based, hourly engagement. The successful candidate will play a critical role in bootstrapping a new team, providing technical leadership and mentorship to our clients, and contributing to the strategic growth of our business. This is a unique opportunity for a professional who possesses not only exceptional technical abilities but also the mentorship and communication skills to drive the team and our clients’ success.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership & Development: Architect, develop, and deliver robust, high-performance software solutions using Rust. Ensure code quality, maintainability, and adherence to best practices.
• Mentorship & Onboarding: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to client teams. You’ll be responsible for onboarding new clients, designing solutions, and helping them get up to speed with our processes and technology.
• Project Scoping & Architecture: Contribute to the long-term growth of our business by participating in project scoping and solution architecture. Your experience in these areas is a strong asset.
• Strategic Growth: As demand grows, the role has the potential to expand into a leadership position, responsible for building and managing a small team of engineers.

Requirements

• Proven experience in a professional software development role, with a strong portfolio of projects built in Rust.
• Exceptional self-starter with a proactive and entrepreneurial mindset.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and deliver results under minimal supervision.
• Prior experience in a client-facing role, providing mentorship, or leading technical discussions is highly desirable.
• Timezone: We would like candidates within the EST, GMT, or CET time zones.

Benefits

• Budget: $60–80 USD per hour.
• Start Date: ASAP.
• Hiring Process:
• Initial Screening: All candidates will undergo a Ropes assessment.
• Interview: Shortlisted candidates will have one 60-minute interview with our CTO or member of our internal team.
