The Marketing team at UpGuard includes multiple marketing and design functions, including Product Marketing, Demand Gen, Marketing Ops, Content Marketing, SEO, Community, Design, and Video. UpGuard’s vision is to become a leader in the markets we play in (Cyber VRM, Attack Surface Management) by providing a best-in-class SaaS platform for organizations to manage their third-party risk and external attack surface. Our purpose as a Marketing team is to facilitate this goal by growing UpGuard with a repeatable and scalable marketing engine and a leading brand. Where does this role fit in?This role is a critical individual contributor position within UpGuard’s marketing team, reporting directly to the VP of Brand. You will be instrumental in shaping UpGuard’s external narrative and market perception by cultivating strong relationships with key media outlets, industry analysts, and influencers. Your proactive approach and ability to work autonomously will be key in securing impactful media coverage and fostering valuable content partnerships that amplify UpGuard’s brand presence and thought leadership in the cybersecurity space.
What will you do?
- Lead Media Relations: Develop and execute a comprehensive public relations strategy to secure consistent, high-impact media coverage in top-tier industry and business publications.
- Build Analyst & Influencer Partnerships: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key industry analysts and influential thought leaders to establish UpGuard as a leader in cybersecurity and drive content collaborations.
- Drive Content Collaborations: Identify opportunities for content partnerships with media, analysts, and influencers, facilitating the creation of joint reports, webinars, articles, and other valuable assets.
- Manage Press Engagements: Coordinate and prepare spokespersons for media interviews, press briefings, and industry events, ensuring consistent and compelling messaging.
- Monitor & Analyze Coverage: Track, analyze, and report on PR and analyst relations performance, using data to refine strategies and maximize impact.
- Develop Messaging & Materials: Collaborate with Product Marketing and Content teams to develop compelling press releases, media kits, briefing documents, and other materials that resonate with target audiences.
What will you bring?
- Proven PR Expertise: Extensive experience (5+ years) in public relations, specifically with a strong track record of securing earned media placements with key technology and business media outlets, preferably within a B2B SaaS environment.
- Analyst Relations Experience: Demonstrated success in building and maintaining relationships with industry analysts (e.g., Gartner, Forrester) and influential figures in the technology space.
- Content Partnership Acumen: Proven ability to identify, secure, and manage content partnerships with external parties, including media, analysts, and influencers.
- Highly Proactive & Autonomous: Exceptional self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects independently, prioritize effectively, and drive initiatives from conception to completion with minimal oversight.
- Strong Relationship Builder: Excellent interpersonal skills with a natural ability to build rapport and establish strong, trust-based connections internally with subject matter experts and externally with media, analysts, and influencers.
- Exceptional Communication: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to craft compelling narratives.
- Knowledge of or a strong interest in cybersecurity is preferred but not required.
